With surgery, Hockey, and the the NHL hockey playoffs, I suddenly found my self wondering if these bad boys were going to be completed. In fact,up until the Wednesday before the tournament they were bare plastic. Thanks goodness for an understanding wife, and coffee. As you can see I managed to get them done, but not to my complete standard for this army, I need to go back and finish the gems, and for all my vehicles I will be adding the crew, for these, inside and out. In game they had two roles to preform, get the homoculous to a position to place the webway portal, and provide anti tank fire. I can say for certain that one raider did well, and one would crash in flames every game, take a guess. The raider with the homoculous blew up every game, but it did do what it was suppose to do before them.

And they were born True (Whatever that means)
Introducing the elite of my Dark Eldar army, my Kalabite Trueborn. To make them standout I used the reaver jetbike helmet heads and gemed them to match the army paint scheme. I ran two squads of three, with two dark lances. There battlefield role was to be a small anti-tank hunter squad. I am pleased to say they did there job well running them in such small squads, and keeping them back and buried in terrain, they pretty much lived every single game, giving me a lot of heavy hitting power.

Venom's anyone
So I have previously posted some pics of a completed venom but wanted to post a couple pics of them all together. I used four in my list, with two battlefield roles. First they were used to transport my warrior, and wych squads, providing semi-bunkered protection for them ( I say semi, because they are only armor 10), and to provide anti infantry support. two splinter cannons go a long way, and four of them together 48 shots, OUCH! They did really well in all games, I should also note that when they did get shot they usually blew up.

I'm Back, and Dark Eldar warriors
Hello All! Well I am finally back and blogging again, and over the next few days will introduce you to my complete Dark Eldar Army I have been working on over the last year. To bring the story up to date, I began painting Dark Eldar last year right after Adepticon, but over that year, I had to complete college, and had a major knee surgery that more or less had me scrambling to get things done; photographs and blogging had to go on the back burner. BUT THAT IS DONE NOW, HAHAHA!
With all that going on I did manage to get my Dark Eldar painted, and over the next few days I will introduce you to each unit, there battlefield role, and finally how they, and I did at Adepticon 2012, which just ended this past weekend and was a total blast. Special thanks goes out to my team tournament teammates, and my goto hobby buddy Brian Carlson (also a teammate), for helping me to prep, and get this army done.
The first unit up to be introduced, has been seen earlier in my blog, but now I know how to take pictures, so wanted to re-post them for completeness. Below are the pics of my warriors squad, I ran two identical squads in the army, there purpose was to objective grab, and be back up armor removal with there blasters.

Dark Eldar Venom
I'm Back! It has been a really crazy time for me with kids, school, and whatever else that popped up along the way, but I have started painting again and here is one completed venom, and a squad teaser. The squad still needs some minor details, but you can see the overall look. I will put out more detailed pics in a day or so, Enjoy

Beasts in the making

Over the last few months I have been working on a beast master pack to run with my Dark Eldar Army. Now I could have gone out and bought the beast creatures from Games Workshop, and although they are great models, they are expensive, and would not be unique to my army. So I have taken it upon myself to create my own beasts for my army. I have a couple other gaming buddies who have been up to the same thing, so we have been, and are, comparing notes on a regular basis to help collaborate ideas for this project.
I plan on running a large beast pack of 4 beast masters, 5 Khymera, and 6 Razorwing models. So far, I have almost finished my my Khymera models. I used the plastic chaos warhound kit, and a plastic hormogaunt kit for this group. As you will see I created mandibles around the mouth, and used the scything talons for big grabbing claws. I tried to used the art work form the codex as my guide, and so any opponents I play know what they are. I will post a finished pic when done.

A New Love - The Archon & Court

This weekend I got to play a game with my Dark Eldar army that I am working on, and I now have a unit that I think I may never go without in a regular size game. The Archon & Court. Now when I first read about the court of the Archon I was not overly impressed with all the units, and you had to take at least one of each. The Ur-Ghul's, and Sslyth's were cool, but I was not a huge fan of the Medusa and Lhamaean. Well I was wrong!
In the past I have been playing Space Marines, and using a the terminator death star unit, Land Raider, Thunder Hammer & Storm Shield Terminators, and a terminator Librarian, Quite a nasty unit with much staying and hitting power. This unit came in as a whole at about 600 points. Now for 415 points I pick up the following:
- Archon w/ Huskblade, Shadow Field, Soul Trap, Phantasm Grenade Launcher, Haywire Gernades.
- 1 Lhamaean
- 2 Medusa
- 2 Ur-Ghul
- 3 Sslyth
- Raider with Flicker Field
- This unit is faster than the Terminators, and most units in the game, by far. The Archon has 6 attacks on the charge, the Sslyth, and Ur-Ghuls pack a ton of Str 5 attacks on the charge, and the Lhamaean & Archon attacks are poisoned (2+).
- The Sslyth's are tough 5, 2 wounds, which helps with high str weapons.
- Add a homculus to the mix and the unit starst the game with feel no pain, and rest assured more tokens are soon to follow.
- They all have fleet, which makes them really fast.
- The Medusa were a surprising plus as well, not in the CC department, but with shooting. They use a template weapon of varying str, and ap, but being a template no cover saves can be taken. I managed to wipe out a unit of marines in cover by rolling an okay str and low ap. was nice, and to top it off the Sslyth carry carbines (aasualt 3).
- Low Armour save, but the speed of the unit makes up for that, and makes me think this unit has a real chance of being my much cheaper death star unit. I wonder what this unit could do to a unit of Thunder Wolf Cavalry, or Paladin Squad? Guess I should go find out...right?
