The Return of My Blog

As Robute Gulliman - Primarch of the Ultramarines - sat in a stasis field for ten millennia slowly healing from his wounds taken at the hands of his brother, only to rise again and lead his forces to greatness; so too has my blog sat, waiting for the time to be resurrected from stasis and deliver hobby glory to all. With the Unfortunate world events of the Corona Virus and ensuing lockdown, I have been guided back to my hobby and blog! While gaming and hobby have never really stopped, I have felt the urge again to start to document my hobby.

Welcome to the return!!!

I have and will always be a die-hard Ultramarines player. I began Ultramarines the day they posted in a White Dwarf many decades ago. They appeal to me and I have stuck with them through the decades. So much so, that at one point I could field the entire chapter of painted marines… yes, that is a lot. Well since that time we have seen the rise of Primaris Marines, the rebirth of Marnius, Tigurius, and Robute Gulliman himself! My chapter is a little out of date now. I have given myself a goal to see if I can bring it about again, as well as get a few other armies I have completed…… So let's
take a journey and see what happens.

I plan to make a post at least once a week, and while they may not always be on Ultramarines, it will always get to share some hobby with you. So without further rambling, let's get to it. I have chosen to renew my blog with none other than Robby G himself. I hope you enjoy.

The progressive journey

A quick peek of wear we started - Robute sat in this stasis form for quite some time. saw the battlefield for a time, then went into the stasis.

Day 1 - I began picking out detail and figure out what I wanted to do. Macrage blue basecoat, Warplock Bronze base on ALL metal trim (So Much), Grey Seer on white areas, pink then read on bolter, base on purity seals and banners

Day 2 - More detail lower half working up the bolter arm. Contrast paint on eagle and sword, Calgar blue highlights, Retributor gold on All trim (so much)

Day 3 -  Worked the bolter arm and chest eagle. I toyed with the colors on the gauntlet and had the helmet the same color for a time. I did not care for the helmet being that light so went blue again. Really happy with the progress so far.

Day 4 - Finished him off!! the sword, the shoulder pad, all open details

DAY 5 - Mounting to base. I forgot to take pics of the base in progress

Thanks for reading. stay tuned for next week. Primaris Veteran squad

Swift and Deadly

Howdy all, well here is another great unit off the painting table, My Grey Knight interceptor squad. I have kitted out this squad with a psycannon, and use it as a midfield problem causer, or solver, and tend to shunt in later turns of the game with them. I really enjoyed painting this squad, and have been enjoying the game play with them. Enjoy the pics.

The Big Dogs

Howdy Gang, well here is by far one of my favorite 40K models ever, I think it looks great when assembled, very imposing on the battlefield, and I really enjoyed painting it. It has the heavy incinerator, and Gatling Pysilencer (one of my personal favorite weapons, unlike many people), and I run them most often with a personal transporter, he likes to get up and personal really fast. Enjoy the picts.

I'm Back! yea!!!!!

Howdy all, well its been a little while since I have posted anything I have been working on. I took a little break and was just playing games with the stuff I have painted recently while I contemplated what to work on next. Well, I figured out what my next army would be, and got busy painting. I have several units done now, and will be posting them up over the next few days. Below is one of my first units I finished, a Grey Knight Strike squad. This unit.and its twin, which you will see below, will be getting some table time at Adepticon this year. Enjoy!

NOVA Army Gallery

So the NOVA open tends to be a gamer's tournament, so you do get quite a few unpainted, or just horribly painted armies, they tend to be the top armies for some reason. However, there are still quite a few wonderful armies to look at and enjoy, I captured several and just wanted to post them up for you to get a loo as well. Just as a note, the lighting for photographs was horrible, so I did my best.

My Nova Results

Howdy all,
Well its been a week since NOVA and wanted to update you all on how I did at the tournament, after some much needed rest. Let me start by saying I really like this event very much overall, it is a different type of tournament than what I usually play, and besides the really great people that is the biggest reason I attend this event. The tournament works as follows; there were 220 people in the grand tournament, with a guaranteed 6 games, and the possibility of getting to play 8 games over three days. Each round played you get paired up  against someone with the same record as you, and after the first four games you get placed in a mini tournament with 16 people, with the same record as you. Now after your games 5 and 6 the top four players from the mini tournaments move onto round 7, and the winners of the round player for their bracket championship.
Okay so now we know how the tournament works on to me. I did not make it to the finals to start, in fact I did not make it to rounds 6 and 7, oh well. I went 2 - 4 overall on the weekend, with a win in my first game, and a win in my last game. with three of my losses coming in the last part of the turn in the final turns, and i played on major DB (Deutsche Bag).

My army in all its glory
Below are some pics of my opponents armies and a brief summary. Just a quick couple notes  as well, the lighting in the gaming hall was really bad, so i did the best I could with taking pictures. Also, the NOVA is defiantly a tournament geared toward to gamer, so many of the top armies tend to look like dookie, so be warned.

Look Out Nova, Here I come!

Howdy all, Well thanks for following my road to the NOVA open and checking out the until I have been preparing. Here are a couple shots of the whole are just before I packed it up for the trip. I am going to try and post daily blog updates while I am there to let you all see how things are going, I am pretty excited, and ready to play 8 games over three days, and eat some sea food. Enjoy the pics, and keep your figures crossed!
